I’m in process clearing out my garage/basement/laundry room/closets. But I live in modern liberal California. So even your household trash becomes cumbersome. Bateries are now toxic waste, and have to be recycled. But the recycling service you already pay for won’t touch them. And light bulbs. California power companies encourage you to use CF bulbs. But you can’t put then in the trash or recycling either. Those have to go to the hardware store or toxic recycling place, and good luck finding one of those. Old compters DVD players TVs hard drives etc are now ewaste that also needs special disposal.
Let’s be clear, I don’t mind recycling things that can be recycled. I don’t mind them asking us (nay even compelling us by law) to do these things. What I, as a busy parent mind terribly is that someone imposes new rules on us without providing the same level of convenience as i had before. What they have effectively done is made every one of these items a separate errand I have to run.
I propose that if The State wants us to do these things they should require all contracted trash pickup companies to handle these rules and not pass the burden on to the individuals.
