I also have a couple missing pieces to this puzzle. If I carry my laptop with me wherever I go, I can read PDF files on the road. But I’ve been looking for a usable solution to read manuals/books/documents/whatever without the full keyboard etc. like on a PDA. Being previously employed by PalmSource, I looked into the PDF viewers avaialble for that platform, and was flatly disappointed. The UI doesn’t work well with the limitations of the viewers. But I did notice this and this. Apparently iPhones and iPod touch models will, and they have a “full” rendering engine. Another less attractive option is the new breed of UMPC full computers in your pocket, but that appears to be an additional device you’d have to keep with you. I’m looking to empty my pockets of batteries if I can. A phone/GPS with document reader and the majority of my music library would win. iPhone plus hard drive is what I think I’d need. One day!
